Sustainable Dining: Our Journey Towards Zero Food Waste

Sustainable Dining Our Journey Towards Zero Food Waste

Set within the peaceful grounds of Adiwana Svarga Loka, Kemangi Ubud Resto believes that every dining experience should be in harmony with nature. This philosophy is reflected in how we source ingredients, prepare our dishes, and care for the environment through mindful and sustainable culinary practices.

Inspired by Bali’s tradition of living in balance with the natural world, we continue to take meaningful steps to reduce food waste and make the most of every ingredient. From thoughtful menu planning and creative ingredient repurposing to responsible waste management, each initiative reflects our ongoing journey towards Zero Food Waste.

Cooking with Purpose

Every meal at Kemangi Ubud Resto begins with careful planning. Our culinary team prepares ingredients according to daily demand to maintain freshness and minimize unnecessary food waste.

Beyond crafting authentic Indonesian and Balinese dishes, we strive to make the most of every ingredient throughout the preparation process. By minimizing overproduction and using ingredients thoughtfully, we remain committed to serving quality dishes while reducing our environmental footprint.

Giving Ingredients a Second Life

Sustainability often begins with simple ideas.

Rather than discarding ingredients that still have value, our kitchen team finds creative ways to give them a second life. Watermelon trimmings are transformed into homemade jam, while the rinds are repurposed to produce eco-enzymes, which support more environmentally friendly cleaning and gardening practices.

These small initiatives demonstrate how mindful creativity can help reduce waste and make better use of nature’s resources.

Returning Organic Waste to Nature

Organic kitchen waste that can no longer be repurposed is processed through our Teba Modern system. Managed by our garden team, the waste is transformed into compost that nourishes the gardens surrounding Adiwana Svarga Loka.

This circular approach returns nutrients to the soil, supporting healthy plant growth while reducing the amount of waste sent to landfill. It is a simple yet meaningful practice inspired by the Balinese philosophy of living in harmony with nature.

A Commitment That Continues

Our journey towards Zero Food Waste is an ongoing commitment, not a final destination. As we continue to explore new ways to reduce waste and operate more responsibly, we remain dedicated to creating dining experiences that are enjoyable, meaningful, and environmentally conscious.

At Kemangi Ubud Resto, sustainability is woven into our daily practices, ensuring that every meal reflects not only the rich flavours of Indonesia but also our respect for nature and the surrounding community.
